The basic course spans over two days with a total of 12 hours of instruction during a Saturday afternoon and a full day the following Sunday.
The first day, you will learn more rescue- and kayaking techniques and have more time training on these. The second day, weather permitting, we will set out on a kayaking trip in the beautiful Færder National Park. The instructor will take weather conditions into consideration and plan a safe route based on the group’s proficency level. Here you will land somewhere on a beach and enjoy your lunch, while the instructor tells you more about kayaking equipment.
After completing this course, you will have learnt and practiced how to properly use the kayak, paddle, spray skirt and personal flotation device (PFD). You will have learnt and practiced how to effectively manoeuvre and safety is paramount.
Upon completion, you will receive the Norwegian Kayaking Federation’s Kayaking Award Basic Level. This is often required if you want to rent kayaks other places in Norway.
Through this basic course, you will get a kick-start on your kayaking career!
